Austin is located on a different hurricane trajectory than Houston or Dallas and has had zero reported incidents of hurricanes. In addition, the region has very low levels of seismic risk.
Austin is also the live music capital of the world, home to the University of Texas Longhorns, and nestled amongst Texas' beautiful hill country. All of these factors make Austin an ideal geography for Disaster Recovery.
OnRamp's Austin Data Center is Built to Ensure Continuity When It's Needed Most
OnRamp's state-of-the-art Austin Data Center is designed to the highest levels of security, redundancy, and reliability. The facility is built to telecom-class, NEBS compliancy standards, incorporating over 100 years of engineering and planning for every contingency in such facilities. The facility is located well outside of the 100 year flood plain and has advanced systems in place to protect against extreme weather like lightning, and high wind speeds.
Within the facility, every component of each of OnRamp's critical systems operate at a minimum of (n+1) redundancy or greater. Redundant power and air systems are built by industry leaders, including Liebert, Kohler and Detroit Diesel. This redundancy extends to the OnRamp network which utilizes Cisco equipment and BGP4 routing technologies to automatically route traffic around any problems. Multiple connections with different Tier-1 Internet backbones, delivered on independent fiber entrance facilities, ensure that the unlikely event of a backbone failure or fiber/conduit cut will not affect service. OnRamp's Austin Data Center is built to ensure continuity when it's needed most.
