data center | Connectivity | OnRamp Network

OnRamp uses best of class equipment and software for all of its computing and network requirements. OnRamp exclusively uses network hardware and software from Cisco Systems and has standardized on the Cisco 6500 series routers for its routing infrastructure.

OnRamp deploys a "Core" layer of redundant routers that connect directly to multiple backbones and an "Edge" layer of redundant routers that connect to each customer, and each router in each layer is connected to every other router in a "full mesh" configuration; each link of which is also redundant using Cisco's FastEtherchannel technology.  OnRamp deploys Border Gateway Protocol 4 (BGP4) to accept and deliver routing announcements with our backbone partners and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) for interior routing.  Each customer is either connected by a dedicated Ethernet connection or redundant Ethernet connections using Cisco's Hot Swap Router Protocol (HSRP) for active/passive failover.  Each customer's connection is dedicated to their use alone and is configured with a dedicated VLAN to isolate each customer's network traffic from other customer's equipment.  Each customer is encouraged to deploy appropriate security measures including a firewall at the Customer Point of Demarcation, which is the point in the network where the customer connects to our network.

OnRamp provides customers with the option of fully Managed Servers, routers, switches and content switches along with providing shared SAN storage to customers in the Data Center.  All managed routers, switches, content switches and other network communication equipment OnRamp provides to customers are made by Cisco Systems.

All customer equipment is kept physically separate and secure in the customer's Co-location space.  OnRamp maintains out of band management to its network equipment via direct connection to console in several places in its facility and can assist customers with out of band management using a variety of means, including POTS and Ethernet to customer Co-location spaces.

In addition, OnRamp can deliver cross connects from the customer's Co-location spaces to third party telecommunications vendors utilizing installed fiber from more than 10 carriers.  OnRamp maintains on site spare parts for all internal infrastructure and for Managed Servers, Managed Routers and Managed Firewalls.

Built with world-class equipment, advanced security and backed by 24/7/365 on-site maintenance and monitoring, the OnRamp Data Center guarantees 100% uptime.
