Network Engineer
Overview:
Onramp is looking for a full-time Network Engineer with proven experience in Windows and Linux operating systems, server class equipment, and Cisco routers and switches. The Network Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of systems administration including networks, applications, and databases.

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide initial configurations and technical support for Cisco switches and routers, firewalls (Cisco ASAs, PIX, CSS), OSPF and BGP routing, layer 2 switching.
- Provide systems administration for Onramp customers, which may include providing assistance with network implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring and the development of specialized system procedures.
- Perform systems security administration functions, including monitoring and managing system resources, performing systems backups and recovery procedures, performing or assisting in troubleshooting and diagnosing production problems, and maintaining network security.
- This engineer will also work with private cloud customers, utilizing virtualization tools and SAN environments.
- For customer satisfaction, the candidate will be expected to provide timely and accurate communication of issue status and resolution to the customer and accurately and professionally document all communication with the customer.
- Maintain current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology, always on a look out for new technologies.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 1-3 years of systems administration experience
- Advance knowledge of TCP/IP Internetworking
- Demonstrated experience deploying Cisco routing, switching, firewalls and content switch configuration and management
- Demonstrated experience configuring all firewall access lists and auditing them routinely, configuring site-to-site and remote access VPN tunnels, and managing the Cisco ACE load balancers for application teams
- Experience with telecommunications configuration and management
- Experience with System Administration for Microsoft Servers and Clients as well as for Microsoft applications including Exchange, SQL Server, CRM, etc.
- Experience with System Administration for Linux operating systems for servers
- Clear understanding of HP and Cisco hardware configuration and maintenance
- Experience with Virtualization and one or more hyper-visors
- Experience with SAN environments, including multipathing in both iSCSi and FCP
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations and persistence to work until the issue is resolved
- Ability to be part of an on-call rotation schedule with other network engineers.
- Communication skills (face-to-face, phone, and email) with the ability to provide support to customers and work with Onramp engineers and staff
- Passion for customer care with exceptional follow up and issue ownership skills.
- Willingness to work independently and with a team
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Definition of Success in First Six Months:
- Successful implementations of new customers in the data center, from racking servers to establishing new server environments
- Rapid resolution of technical issues, with engagement of additional resources (including vendors) as appropriate
- Work well with teammates and clearly communicate actions with them and customers
- Share technical knowledge to enhance technical skills of overall team
- Ability to adapt to new environments and changing business requirements
